How to Punctuate Quotations taken from ( http://quotations.about.com/c/ht/03/04/How_Punctuate_Quotations1051371187.html)
From your Quotations Guide
When you use quotations, it is important to follow certain standards of punctuation. Ignoring these standards could make your quotation look like plagiarism, not to mention shoddy and amateurish.
Here's How:
1. Period (.) and commas (,) should be placed inside the quotation marks.
2. Colon (:) and semicolons (;) should stay outside quotation marks.
3. If hyphens (-), question marks (?), or exclamantion marks (!) are part of the original quotation, use them inside. If they are your own, use them outside.
4. When quoting books, cite the name of the author at the end in brackets.
5. Reproduce all the punctuations used by the author inside the quotation where possible.
6. If the quotation is more than four lines long, indent it about half an inch from the left margin.
7. If you indent a long quotation (#6), don't use quotation marks.
8. A short quotation (under 4 lines) can be merged with your own sentence.
9. If you skip parts of a quotation, use ... to signify you've left something out.
10. When you quote poetry, use slash marks (/) to indicate line breaks.
11. Never let a quotation stand alone as a sentence.
