Sentence Fragments
Learning Goals:
Understand what a sentence fragment is and how to avoid them when writing or to use them for creative purposes.
A Definition: Either a subordinate clause or a group of words that lacks a subject and/or a verb, but which is nevertheless punctuated as a complete sentence. Fragments are acceptable in some situations (for example, when writing dialogue, in advertising slogans, or as an answer to a question). However, unintentional sentence fragments should be avoided.
