Parentheses
Uses of Parentheses:
1. Parentheses are used to set off comments or asides in a sentence.
Example: They delivered the pizza (but forgot the chicken wings) right on time.
2. Punctuation connected to the sentence and not the phrase should remain outside the parentheses.
Example: They delivered the pizza right on time (but forgot the chicken wings).
3. Parentheses are used within scripts to fram stage directions.
Example: Sue: (Bending over to unruffle her dress) I didn't expect to see you today.
